Somnia Joins the Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI)

New Partnership with AQI To Help Improve Quality and Safety of Anesthesia Care

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Somnia Anesthesia has entered into a new partnership with the Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI) for the purpose of improving the quality of anesthesia care. The National Anesthesia Clinical Outcomes Registry (NACOR), initiated in 2008 by the House of Delegates of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, aggregates anesthesia-related clinical outcomes data from participating practices and hospitals nationwide, with the goal of improving patient care. Somnia, based in New Rochelle, N.Y., is the first anesthesia-only national practice management company to participate in the registry.

As a NACOR participant, Somnia will contribute anesthesia clinical outcomes data to the registry.  This data will help the AQI identify best practices in anesthesia and improve the overall quality of patient care. In return, Somnia and other participating practices and hospitals will receive periodic benchmarking reports comparing their data to the registry’s national aggregate data, and eventually with a peer group of similar anesthesia practices. All practice, provider and facility data is de-identified for use by the participant and AQI will analyze and report only aggregate data.
