A Florida man pleaded guilty to a massive Medicare fraud scheme. Mr. Reinaldo Guerra of Miami, Florida pleaded guilty to a count of conspiracy to commit Medicare fraud and a count of Medicare fraud. Mr. Guerra owned and operated 11 organizations that were alleged to supply durable medical equipment and submitted $123 million in fake claims to Medicare for medication that had not been prescribed or ordered via physician and was not given to patients. Unknowingly, Medicare paid $35 million on the aforementioned claims. Also taken into custody was Jose Perez of Golden Beach, Florida. Sentencing is set to take place on November 13, 2009.
